Star Wars Demo Reel 1999

Star Wars Demo Reel 1999

Back in 1999, the year Star Wars: Episode I was released, I created a demo reel of my 3D animation work, hoping to score a dream job with ILM or Lucasarts. Lucasarts saw the reel and called me up to come to California for an interview, unfortunately I could not come up with the money to go, being pretty much broke at the time. Then the real world intervened and took me on a path away from all of that, but I still wonder what my life might have been like had I been able to go.  Oh well!

I built all the models and textured them, lit the scenes and created the animation sequences in Lightwave. I then rendered all the footage out as stills and compiled the whole thing in Adobe Premiere.

I edited all the sound fx together with spatial placement and mixed the music as well, it is amazing how far 3d animation has come since then when I was working with the computing power of a Pentium 200Mhz PC!
